Recently, in an interview with Instyle, Cameron Diaz, who is the same age as me, said something that really struck a chord and captured exactly how I want to feel in the work I choose now…
I feel it’s OK for me to take time for myself now to re-organize and choose how I want to come back into the world. If I decide to…
Right now I’m looking at the landscape of wellness and all that. But whatever I do, it has to be something I’m passionate about — something that just feels effortless.
Effortless. Yes. That. Not something that has me feeling beyond myself. Not something that gives me the kind of Imposter Syndrome that keeps me awake at night, nor the kind of writing that makes me feel as if I am trying to extract teeth. I want my creativity to flow, without emotional strain at a point in my life when my own health is rather outrageously insisting I no longer ignore her in favour of endlessly chasing my tail, when the peri-menopause has got me examining so very much of my life, and indeed when my family needs my support to see them through health issues and educational rites of passage too.
I want to feel passionate again so you can be inspired by it too: not be so wholly, endlessly aware of how much I am struggling.
This time off has been so terribly good for me. I have journalled, and read and stared into space. I have hopped around old familiar internet haunts and found myself astounded by how so many of the sites I used to love have now called it a day, closed down their blogs or downsized them into something infinitely more manageable after recognising, as I did, earlier this year that in the relentless pursuit of financial survival, too much of ourselves is lost: and the very reason you were kind enough to follow us in the first place is significantly diluted by the twists and turns we are obliged to perform in order to put food on the table. I hate it. I hate it all. And I am not who I was because of it.
So in this post I want to set out exactly what the future holds for us all, starting with this blog. For though many are turning their backs on their blogs and creating business models based on Instagram, Facebook and their newsletter: essentially taking their content to the audience, I am stubborn enough to believe that there is still a place for blogging in the online space and as I suggested in a post a few weeks ago, I will be focusing on bringing everything over to the blog so that we all have a happy, flower-sprinkled home on the internet for the way of life we have long been carving together. One place that captures all that I have to share with you. Bringing the conversation back to the comment box and welcoming us all home again.
Adding Value For My Members
Last week I created a post that represents the future of BrocanteHome.
Project September was a call to focus on creating change in your life with a blog post here and for my members, added value in the form of a downloadable workbook to help you visualise and create that change. Membership from now on will take the form of VIP access to the BrocanteHome Lifebook (formerly known as the Life Less Ordinary Planner) and the BrocanteHome Playbook: a magazine style format arriving in September.
The premise is to help you not just listen to me issuing instructions, but to also encourage you to put the routines and rituals in the Brocante Calendar into action. So here on the blog I will be both blogging on an eccentric whim, AND creating focused content based on the housekeeping routines, well-being rituals and family/personal daily celebrations at the heart of a Brocante lifestyle: accompanied by VIP only content, planner pages, workbooks, Trello layouts and inspiration in the VIP Library. All that and creating Christmas one plan at a time!
I want you to be able to create a BOOK OF YOU. A guide to your own life so that you can better understand who you are and who you want to be.Though homemaking planners are two a penny now this will be a much more personalised, expansive journey into every aspect of your life.
While before the design of all that I created changed frequently, from now on everything I create will fit together, so that you can fashion a folder full of plans, routines, inspiration and dreams, accompanied seasonally by a “Playbook” full of vintage wisdom and truly scrumptious domestic and literary joy.
This keeps everything simple, purposeful and organised for all of us and as it speaks so completely about what it is I want to teach you, it will I hope be effortless for me, reduce the design and administration demands of what went before and will be offered initially at a flat rate early-bird membership fee of $10.00 a month, making it both affordable for you and if I get it right, sufficient enough to keep Brocante on line.
What About The Salon?
As I suggested in a previous post, The Salon will be closing at the end of the year, and is no longer open to new members, although it will remain available and will continue to be updated for existing members with ALL VIP benefits included until the end of December 2019. so that all existing work can be completed.
Thereafter all existing subscriptions will be cancelled and lifetime members grandfathered in to the VIP club, while other Salon tiers will be offered VIP subscriptions (at $10.00), or can choose to keep their existing memberships if they are more cost effective.
Furthermore all lifetime members will also have lifetime access to everything else I create here at BrocanteHome,Net for as long as the site is online without exception (excluding anything I create on other sites going forward).
And finally, please note that if you cancel your Salon subscription before the end of the year in order to join the VIP membership, you will lose immediate access to the Salon and thus should download all that you want to keep before cancellation. Gosh I do hope all that makes sense!!
Newsletters and Social Media
As I described earlier in the year, I feel more at home at Instagram than I do on Facebook now and that hasn’t changed: In the next few weeks I will be posting again on Instagram and truly hope you will join me there. Even though I’m expecting a lot of you to join me, I would love nothing more than to see new people on my account too. Maybe I need to look at how to increase instagram followers so this can happen, as it will be even more important now than ever that my audience continues to grow. As sadly I will be closing down my Facebook groups and pages and my Twitter account, simply in order to reduce the noise in my head and to help me better focus on all that I want to share here.
While I know many of you rely on Facebook for updates about new content, this will now be happening via a weekly digest straight to your inbox and a once monthly, more personal “Love-Letter” from me, so if you want to stay in touch please make sure you are signed up to my email list. I know how very much of an honour it is to be invited into your inbox and promise never to exploit that by bombarding you with nonsense.
And Finally The Shop
At some point I will be creating new courses in the future and offering existing ones individually via the Brocante Shop but while I stitch an effortless workflow back together, I have put this on hold and will be focusing on finishing existing courses and converting old content into books for sale for your Kindle. But do rest assured that come 2020 there WILL be fresh inspiration and ideas…
So does that sound OK? I know I have talked it all to death, because it helps to clarify the plan for our Brocante tomorrows in my mind, but I hope it also helps you decide whether you want to be a part of my vision too and will continue to support BrocanteHome in the future.
Right I will stop waffling and get back to proper good old blogging now. Should you choose to support BrocanteHome AND start putting together your own Brocante LIFEBOOK, you can hop over here to become a VIP member today.
I’m so very grateful that so many of you are willing to support me in this way and I truly hope, that in some small way, your life is better for having Brocantehome still in it.
P.S: Though I can’t quite fathom why, I have recently had quite a few emails asking me where the Member Library has gone, though it is still exactly where it was and access to your courses and various memberships hasn’t changed so simply click here to sign in and you are good to go. The link to the library is in the main menu of this site so simply look for the three bars on your phone or tablet and you will find it. Hope this helps!x
