The Mommies Escape.

Nightout

The mommies of all the three year olds I know (hmm..four of us!) are abandoning the little monsters to hit the town tonight. Starting off with a jolly to the theatre to see Chicago and ending who knows where. Or when. Please God not too late, we have  go to a family fun day  at Finleys new pre-school  at nine  o'clock in the morning...

Part of the fun of escaping these four walls is in the getting ready.  Singing while I iron my outfit. Spritzing perfume into the air in my bedroom to get me in the mood.   Taking extra care creating a Roxie Hart-esque red pout and tonging my hair into theatrical ringlets...

It's kind of like my very own pre-show party. Blue cheese  and black pepper crackers arranged artfully on a plate.  A glass of something fuzzy at  my side and  music loud enough to offend the neighbours as I pluck too many eyebrows and paint toenails no-one else will  see...

I dance a lot. Jump about on my bed and ring friends to discuss respective outfits  like  a gaggle of teenage girls.  (Kath has informed me that she will be wearing something "snazzy". It's a worry on my mind.) I try clothes on that don't fit and grow temporarily depressed, then put on the same old same old and run to the taxi feeling temporarily beautiful...

I'm excited. Can you tell?
