"Phew!" Said the Happy Housekeeper

Of all the calamities in this life, the one I can barely tolerate without automatic descension into a gibbering wreck, is when BrocanteHome won't work. Readers during this long, terrible week, I have cried and screamed and sent mean, screechy emails to support systems unwilling to support our lovely site. In the past two days I haven't showered, barely slept and I have lived on jammy crumpets and copious cups of tea. And all because my beloved BrocanteHome developed a disease that for a while looked terminal.

But thanks to the heavens above, we are back, with a beautiful vengeance. After much battling with code I don't understand and men in support forums so geeky they barely speak English, I have had to re-build Brocante from the bottom up, with a new theme and many of the bells and whistles gone. Indeed, though I have been able to salvage most of the past eight years I have lost the most recent six months of posts, and all their precious comments and thus I am having to pop them back on to the site manually, one at a time, commentless and sad! This means that for a while those of you lovely enough to subscribe by email or RSS might just find yourselves with old Brocante posts re-appearing in your stream and I truly hope you will tolerate this muddle until the eighty missing posts are back on-line...

So after breathing the loudest of phews!, wiping my exhausted brow, and launching this all new version of BrocanteHome, I am ready for a hot bath and a mug full of gin! Once I have got the house straight, my hair clean and something wholesome in the oven, normal business will resume...

In the meantime, go have a look around and let me know what you think.x
