"A generation of children have grown up believing that buying expensive stuff is how you show people love and that it is their right to have the stuff they want.
This isn't healthy, either emotionally or financially.
I think a better way of showing children love is by sitting down over tea and asking them about their day. Which is old fashioned I grant you, but not as old fashioned as living within your means.
That has become extinct."
