Hello Housekeepers, welcome to the second week of the Better Me program -fifty two weeks of inspirational little somethings designed to help you live a life less ordinary…
Shall we jump right in and pursue betterment with everything we have got?
Let’s start with the Leave No Trace Rule: the most important rule of outdoor life for the boy scouts of America. Now I am not suggesting that you run out and join the scouts, but embracing the Leave No Trace Rule as a principle of maintaining a tidy home, by all who share your house might just be one step towards a better, less chaotic way of living.
Today hop over to Double the Batch and read about implicating the Leave No Trace rule in your home.
When we get intentional about life: really, tiny detail focused, know exactly how I want to feel intentional, life steps in and helps you shape life in the very way you have visualized it. The trick though is focus your attention not on the specifics of who, where or what but to shift that intention to how you feel during your ideal day. Not on being in a relationship with someone in particular, but on feeling loved. Not on living in your dream space but on living in a space in which you feel comfortable enough to create your dreams…
Today then I want you imagine how you want to FEEL this time next year. If you need help imagining how you want to feel at any one point during your ideal day, then this free worksheet provided by Wild Sister Magazine might just help. So dream, imagine and then start making it happen one hour at a time. Bird by bird my Darling.
Today I want you to open your wardrobe and take out everything that no longer fits you. All those things that have got even remotely shabby. Everything that doesn’t quite flatter. Today you see is the day to start creating a wardrobe of clothes that finally represents who you want to be. Despite your big bum. Or even because of it.
A better you then starts with creating space for better clothes. Chuck. It. ALL. Out.
List making is the best thing since sliced bread. List making clarifies the most muddled of our thoughts and helps us think not in prose but in actionable, on-point bullet points.
Today I want you to to choose a notebook especially for lists. Not just to-do lists and shopping lists but lists that come from the heart. Lists of favorite things and things you will no longer tolerate. Lists of loveliness. If you need inspiration visit Moorea Seal or download her book 52 Lists.
I know you have heard this before but the effect green tea has on your metabolism are second to none. In fact a report from the American journal of Nutrition stated the following:
Green tea-extract increases the metabolism by 4% over a 24 hour period. Three to five cups a day can help you burn an extra 70 calories a day, which adds up to seven pounds a year, 35 pounds for five years and 70 pounds for 10 years.
I think I might just be better if I lost seven pounds (and the rest) over the course of the next year simply by changing my daily cuppa and so today I am urging you to join me in a trial and error experiment to discover a brand of green tea we find not just palatable but positively tasty…
Time to commit to a monthly date. Not with a partner or your best friend. But all by yourself. Sometimes we get to fearing alone time. We correlate alone with lonely and it couldn’t be further from the truth.
When we decide to commit to dedicating time to doing what we want and nothing but exactly what we want we find ourselves marveling at the things we had forgotten delight us. Today then, sit down with your calendar and mark out twelve days you will spend doing nothing other than pleasing yourself. Look forward to these dates and dedicate all your planning skills to making sure that each one is as wonderful as can be.
And finally today mix up a batch of these extra scrumptious 10 calorie, protein-packed peanut butter cookies. Finding a low calorie, nutrition packed treat you enjoy might just stand between you and the dreaded munchies…
Have a lovely week Housekeepers.x
